about

Karen wrote this song after visiting Tallinn, where there was an exhibition of bells. They had been buried during the Communist era to stop them being broken or melted down - Bells are still buried all over Estonia, either because the buildings that housed them are no longer there, or because those who knew where they were hidden had died. The thought that there would be something missing if you tried to mark great life events without bells was the inspiration for this song.
